Spiritual Wellness Books You Can Read in a Day

Spiritual Wellness Books

In following our travel weight loss series  the next step in developing a sustainable weight loss is spiritual wellness. If you haven’t read part one, check it out here.Sometimes your soul is just in a funk. I get it, we start experiencing the existing phenomenon. Where you just got through the motions of life, just existing not really living. This can be a dangerous spiral, the lack of being truly present in one’s life can lead to issues with not only physical wellness but emotional and spiritual. It is easy to become fixated on the negative and on the future instead of working on yourself, in the here and now.

First and foremost, how does one get out of funky town and back in the present? That’s a challenging question and different for each person but for me, I know that a good book can definitely be the first start in the right direction! Below are a few of my favorite spiritual books you can crank out in a day or two. Later on this week we will also talk about some other steps you can take to improve your spiritual wellness

The Alchemist

Alchemist

This is our favorite book! This book takes every avenue of spirituality and weaves it into a beautiful fable about appreciating life. It tells the story of a young boy who goes out in search for treasure. But in the end he learned the value of listening to himself and following his dreams. If you want to read only one book from this list, LET THIS ONE BE IT.

The Four Agreements

Four Agreements

If you want a quick book about how to learn to love, trust, and understand yourself make sure to try this book. It discusses four agreements you should make with yourself in order to better understand your place in the world. It will help you to be not only more aware of yourself, but also more aware and understanding of people around you.

The Egg

The Egg

This short story has honestly changed the way I view people and the world. It discusses death, life, and the connectiveness of the world within 10 minutes. It tells the story of a man who recently dies and what he learns about his death. I always recommend this story to people who are in search of understanding the connectiveness of humanity. It is also a great lesson in how we should treat each other. Lucky for you it is available free online here!

Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love

Learning from other people can help show us perspectives we would never have thought possible. This book tells a story about a women on a journey and how she works to learn more about the world and her place in it. This is a fantastic read for travelers who always try to “do as the locals do” or for those who eventually want to.

Tuesdays with Morrie

Tuesdays with Morrie

Speaking of learning from other people, this is a beautiful story about just how impactful one person can be. It is so easy to say “live in the moment” but the story of a man who is dying make those words ring true. This book leaves you will profound life experiences from someone who deeply impacts others.

The Prophet

The Prophet

This is a lovely little pocket guide to spirituality. Whenever you are feeling overwhelmed and not sure how to handle it, this is a great little guide book to assist you though. Great for finding peace in those cramped and long train rides where someone is kicking your seat and a baby is crying.

The Little Prince

The Little Prince

Finally, The Little Prince. This is a children’s story, and I understand this might get a lot of questions like, “why is this spiritual?” This story talks about life, love, and spirituality in the most simplistic yet profound way. It is filled with great ideas and eye opening messages. I think the most impactful stories are ones that can speak volumes in a few short words and the little prince does this beautifully. Bonus: if you can read French, this book is just as beautiful, if not more, in its native language.

So these are just some of the great books to restart your soul and begin living in the moment!  Do you have a book you think we missed? Comment in the section below and let us know!
