Turkey needs to on your bucket list. It is breathtaking, full of beautiful cities, amazing ancient civilizations, and historical UNESCO World Heritage sites. Most people know about Istanbul but Turkey has so many more sites to see! We will do a separate article about Istanbul later on but for now, we want to discuss these beautiful places and spaces to visit if you want to adventure off the beaten path.
Cappadocia
If you want to be transported to a world of fairy chimneys and ancient monastery then Cappadocia would be the place. Stay in one of the hostels that has been built into a cave, exploring ancient tunnels dug by the earlier Christians, or if you are feeling very adventurous go hot air ballooning. One of the most beautiful places and most well known, every morning hundreds balloons ascend over Cappadocia Turkey. You start in the darkness with nothing but a few lights of other hot air balloons, soon as the sun rises you see hundreds of balloons in all different colors in the air. Definitely bucket list worthy and worth every penny, especially with the complementary campaign after you land!
Selcuk
If you are an ancient history enthusiast then Selcuk might be your best bet. Here you have access to Ephesus, the temple of Artemis, and the House of the Virgin Mary. These wonders of the ancient world and amazing archaeological structures are all at your reach.
Sirince
If history isn’t your thing but wine is then Sirince is also a wonderful place to visit. It is right outside the city of Selcuk in the mountain side. There you will find a huge selection of fruit wines as well as quaint little shops and bars. Most of the bars there will give you a flight of these different wines for pretty reasonable prices.
Pamukkale
UNESCO world heritage hot springs + ancient city = paradise. This is one of the most beautiful places in the world. The white rock and clear blue water of Pamukkale is a great place to go and relax and enjoy. There is also another old archaeological city to explore including an amphitheater. While it can be toursity if you explore the area you can find your own little pool of heaven.
