The Power of “Yes”

If you don’t read anything else in our blog I hope you at least read this post. This is the single largest piece of advice I can give on how to live an adventurous fulfilling life. And it will blow your mind.
The secret?
Say “Yes.”
To anything and everything….well within your own limits obviously.
You will be surprised how much the world opens up to you if you just accept it. Emily and I spent three months working on a farm in Hawaii (which will be covered in a later post) and I originally told Emily, “No, there is no way we can do that, yet alone afford it. But, as she always does, she changed my mind and I said “Yes”.
If you go to a new place, or meet new people and someone asks you if you want to see something in the town or if you want to go to a bar, (if you are comfortable and they aren’t creepy) GO. I have eaten some of the best, cheapest, and most interesting food in my life by trusting the people that live in the area. Granted, not every time is a success. Somethings are just terrible, boring, or not something you find interesting. But in my experience even those make for a hell of a story. And yes, this blog is about how to do amazing things, be spontaneous, and cross things off your bucket list while still staying on a budget and planning. Throughout this blog you will see why these things are not contradictions. Plan, but be ready to completely scrap the plan if an opportunity arises.

The bottom line is that MOST people are not trying to ruin your day. Most people want to help. LET THEM. Be bold, be brave be adventurous.
